Rocks are a resource item found in Stranded Deep. Being a basic resource, rocks are considered a crucial material for many crafting and building recipes. In appearance, rocks are small, ball-shaped objects, and can be used to the player's advantage in a number of ways.

Obtaining[edit | edit source]

Loose rocks can only be found scattered around islands.

Like other resources and items, such as palm trees and sticks, the number of available rocks on an island is limited, meaning the player can completely exhaust their supply if they craft too many items; at this point, the player will then need to traverse neighboring islands to find additional resources.

Usage[edit | edit source]

Rocks are primarily used as a crafting ingredient for many recipes - tools, such as the crude axe and hammer, require the rock's use for the tool heads, while other structures, such as the fire pit addition to a campfire, require the rock's use for increased durability.

In addition to being used as a crafting material, rocks can be split into one Stone Tool via the Crafting Menu (C). These Shards are a prime ingredient in crafting Tools such as the Refined Knife.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Despite the number of large rock formations found on islands, the player is incapable of mining resources from them, and are considered solely aesthetic in nature (with the exception of Rock (Node)).
  • Originally, the only way to get Stone Tools was to use the game's drag mechanics to smash the rocks against a piece of static environment. This has since been removed and replaced by the Crafting menu option.
